February Update

February was a super busy month at SMA!  We learned that Mr. Groundhog saw his shadow so we can look forward to 6 more weeks of winter!  Some thought this was great while others were ready for Spring!  I'm sure parents just hope for no more snow days!!    Next up was our Pancakes and Pajamas day.  How fun to come to school in our jammies!  Even the teachers loved this idea!  We all had pancakes for snack - lots and lots of pancakes!  I think we all agreed that it is one of our favorite snacks all year!!  We also had Open Enrollment for next year on this day.  It was great to see so many new faces at SMA and we can't wait for them to join our family next school year.

Our Fun Friday at Let It Shine was a huge success.  We had the largest group to ever attend an event at Let It Shine, Spring Hill.  We had over 70 children and their parents.  It was great to see our students, their friends and the parents getting to know each other better while having lots of fun jumping, bouncing and flipping.  We will definately do this one again!

Our Valentine parties were such sweet events!  Our Pre-K kiddos gave themselves to their parents - they were all dressed up like Valentines!  All the classes loved passing out cards and treats to their friends.  This is always one of the kids favorite holidays because they love to share with their friends!

Our last event in February was a visit from Ms. Tammy at Dr. Buzz's dental office.  She brought Buzzy the bee to teach the children how to brush, floss and care for their teeth.  Buzzy sometimes has bad manners, according to Ms. Tammy.  Well, he certainly showed us that when he spit on the children (several times)!!!  He had to go to "time out" but did get to come back to say goodbye to all his new SMA friends.

Special thanks to Ms. Becky's friend Mr. Gary for coming out on Thursday to prepare lunch for our teachers.  He is a chef and cooked a full course meal on site for our teachers to enjoy during their lunch time.  It was amazing - we were so spoiled!  By the way, Gary, you are welcome to treat us anytime!!!!

January Update

January brought lots of cold weather outside and lots of fun activities inside at SMA!  Just because it was too cold to play outside, that didn't stop us from bringing the blizzard inside with our Blizzard Day.  Every class participated in all our fun blizzard day centers.  The kiddos searched for matching mittens in real (polymer) snow and made paint tracks in the snow, just like Peter in The Snowy Day.  They loved making snowball soap to take home for a nice warm bath and making winter scenes from lots of edible goodies.  Thanks to donations from all our parents, we had a huge igloo made from milk jugs for the children to take turns playing inside.  And last but not least, we had a huge snowball fight with paper snow and snowballs!

We also had a visit from Dr. Stephen.  He brought us all kinds of dress up surgery gear and talked with us about what a doctor does all day.  Everyone got a chance to check their pulse and ask lots of questions.  Thanks to Dr. Stephen and his nurse for taking the time to come to SMA!  We loved it!!

November Update

This is really our favorite time of year with the SMA kiddos!  Our Trunk-or-Treat was a HUGE success despite the rain.  We moved everything into the gym and hosted over 100 people from SMA!  Thanks to all of you who attended - hope you had as much fun as we did!  Our big November event was our Charlie Brown Thanksgiving day.  The children loved this day!  Each group watched the traditional Charlie Brown Thanksgiving movie and then we had our feast "Snoopy style".  We made popcorn, toast with butter, pretzel sticks and of course, jellybeans!  The kids all agreed that this feast beats turkey and dressing hands down!

We are working hard on our first ever Christmas program.  Each class is learning new songs and making decorations for our big night.  Make sure to save the date - you won't want to miss it!  It's Thursday, December 10th at 7:00 p.m.  Bring the video camera - you never know when you might capture that award winning funny video!  Smile

December Update

December brought so much fun at SMA!  Our teachers kept the kiddos busy making lots of Christmas crafts, learning more letters and, most important, learning about God's special gift to all of us - His son!  Our Christmas musical was spectacular!  After many, many practices (some of them quite funny!), the program was as perfect as a preschool program can be!  The children performed as if they had done this hundreds of times.  They sang their hearts out, smiled for the many cameras and waved to parents, grandparents and friends.  I think every person in attendence had a smile on their face!  Personally, I think their version of "Silent Night" was the most beautiful I've ever heard!

December also means we are half way through our year!  We are all looking forward to the second half of our time together this year with lots more fun and learning!
